The TriNex consortium took up the challenging task to develop a unified water-energy-food strategy for Egypt. Such a task cannot be tackled by the consortium alone but needs the acceptance and support of the concerned ministries. To that end, the consortium as reached out to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Ministry of Housing and Ministry of Planning and Administrative Reform.
After having been briefed, the representatives of the ministries showed great interest and enthusiasm for the ambitious goals of the project. On December 1, 2014 the first stakeholder meeting with representatives of all five ministries will take place at the American University in Cairo. The governmental representatives will present their ministries’ strategies and discuss with consortium members about modes of further collaboration. The closed, full-day meeting is expected to result in a road map for the co-creation process of a joint WEF nexus strategy for Egypt.
