1 Million Feddans for Life

On the 1st of September, 2015, experts from around Egypt are invited to attend a High-Level Workshop at Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development.  The workshop, entitled “1 Million Feddans for Life”, will focus on the efforts of the Egyptian government for the project “1 Million Feddans” which has emerged as one of Egypt’s most important initiatives.  Compounding off of this initiative, on the 28th of July, 2015 SEKEM won the 2015 Land for Life Award, an award given to organizations and institutions that make a special contribution to the usage of agricultural land for promoting life and bio-diversity.  The topics that will be discussed in the event are as follows:

  • Sources and methods of irrigation for water conservation
  • Crop choices based on ROI and water footprint
  • The selection and criteria for food crops vs medicinal crops
